Soft Tissue Management

Soft Tissue Management is your home care and coming in every three to four months for your periodontal maintenance appointments. We would recommend you to come in every three months for your periodontal maintenance appointment because after your scaling and root planning disrupts the growth of bacteria, some bacteria remains and may settle back in a pocket. Once the bacteria becomes re-established in a pocket the number of bacteria can double reaching damaging levels less then ninety days. The more frequent dental hygiene appointment visits help break the stronghold of bacteria and tartar in your pockets, minimizing the recurrence of infection, and slowing down the damaging effects. These appointments consist of taking x-rays, evaluating the effectiveness of your homecare, measuring the depth of your periodontal pockets, removing plaque and tartar, placing antibiotic in pocket to help in healing, and re-treating with scaling and root planning, if necessary.
