Sleep Apnea

Those who don’t know much about sleep apnea might think it’s just about obnoxious, loud snoring that can ruin sleep for anyone within earshot. But sleep apnea is a lot more than that, and if you’re one of the millions of people suffering from this disorder, you deserve relief from the pain and inconvenient symptoms caused by sleep apnea. Dr. Della Bella has specialized in sleep disorder dentistry for over 15 years and can help provide treatment for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea.

Do I Have Sleep Apnea?

In order to determine whether or not you have sleep apnea, you will need to be screened and receive a diagnosis. Here are some signs that you may have sleep apnea and should receive a screening:

  • Insomnia
  • Headaches
  • Loud snoring
  • Irritability
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Extreme fatigue or drowsiness
  • Loss of memory

Treatment Options

We offer two types of sleep apnea appliances to help treat sleep apnea and provide you with relief from the symptoms you deal with each day. We offer a TAP (Thorton Adjustable Positioner) appliance that is to be worn during sleep hours. This appliance is adjustable and has a removable tray. The TAP appliance holds your lower jaw forward, which keeps your airway open and improves breath flow.

We also provide the SomnoMed appliance, which moves your lower jaw forward and allows the tissues located at the back of your throat to relax. It also keeps your tongue from collapsing and blocking the airway, providing you with a quieter, more peaceful sleep.
