Once we have found Periodontal Disease which is an infection of the gums, teeth, and the bone that surrounds the teeth. It is one of the leading causes of adult tooth loss. If you have experienced bad breathe, loose teeth, your gums bleed when you brush or floss, your gums are swollen, red, or even spongy feeling, and or you notice inflammation in between your teeth. This is usually the signs of periodontal disease. It is very possible that you may not have any of those symptoms and majority of people have periodontal disease and not even know it.

Periodontal Disease is caused by plaque and tartar.  If the plaque isn’t removed by homecare every day, the bacteria in plaque will then set up residency in your periodontal pocket and wreak havoc. If not treated, it will start to destroy the bone around your teeth.  Periodontal Disease cannot be cured but it can be controlled. It must be monitored and controlled to prevent the loss of teeth.  The diagnosing and treatment is key to keeping your teeth.
